Interesting, thanks. The first time that a bomb was used to bring down an airplane was in 1933, when a United Airlines Boeing 247 was brought down by a nitroglycerin bomb with the loss of four passengers and three crew. Nobody ever claimed responsibility for that, and it, too, remains unsolved.
